MightyMouse

MightyMouse vs Typeless

Typeless cleans up what you say very well, in the cloud. MightyMouse keeps the audio on your Mac. Which matters more depends on what you dictate.

Short answer: Typeless processes your audio on cloud servers and limits free dictation to a weekly word count, while MightyMouse transcribes on your Mac with local Whisper, free with no word cap. Pick Typeless for polished cleanup and apps on Windows, Android and iPhone, and MightyMouse if your voice should stay on your computer.

Typeless is an AI dictation app. Its site says it removes filler and repeated words, keeps the final version when you correct yourself mid-sentence, formats spoken lists, adapts tone to each app, and handles 100+ languages. It is aimed at people who talk fast and want clean text out.

The thing to know before you pick it is where the audio goes. Typeless's privacy policy says "Both your audio and contextual data are processed in real time on our cloud servers," and that audio and relevant text may be sent to third-party cloud AI providers. It also says it operates under a zero data retention policy for voice and context. We found no on-device or offline mode in the policy.

MightyMouse dictates on your Mac instead. Transcription runs on your Mac with whisper.cpp, so the audio never leaves it, and there is nothing to meter.

Where Typeless is the better pick

Typeless wins on cleanup. Doing the work on large cloud models is what lets it drop the false starts, fix the sentence you rephrased halfway, and shape a spoken list into a real list. Local Whisper gets the words right and rewrites less. If you ramble into a mic and want a tidy paragraph back, that is a real advantage.

It also covers more devices. Its pricing page lists macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android. MightyMouse is macOS only, with an iPhone remote, and a Windows version is in beta. Typeless also lists ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA compliance on its site, which matters if your employer needs that on paper. It has a personal dictionary and translate-as-you-speak too.

Where MightyMouse is the better pick

You do not want your voice on someone's server. Lawyers, clinicians, anyone under an NDA, and plenty of people who would just rather not. Typeless says it does not keep your audio. Local transcription means there is nothing to retain and nobody to trust.

You talk a lot and do not want a meter. The Typeless free plan has a weekly word limit. MightyMouse has none, because on-device transcription costs us nothing to run.

You want your phone as part of the computer. Your iPhone becomes a microphone and a trackpad for your Mac. Speak into the phone, the Mac transcribes it, and the words are typed where your cursor is. The phone only detects when you are speaking, and the transcription runs on the Mac.

What dictation costs on each side, October 2026

The Typeless pricing page shows Free ($0, limited words), Pro at $12 a month billed yearly or $30 a month billed monthly, and Enterprise on request. It gives no number for the free word limit, and we are not going to guess one.

MightyMouse transcription is free and unlimited. You pay only if you choose to use our built in AI credits for rewrite and ask features, and not at all if you connect an AI account you already have. Details are on the pricing page.
