Hit your Claude limit? Keep going on your other account

You are halfway through a job and Claude says you are out. You have another plan sitting right there, unused.

On your phone? Get the Mac app by email.

Short answer: To keep working after you hit a Claude usage limit, sign in to a second account and run your next task on it. You can do that by hand with a separate config folder per account, or let MightyMouse move your next run to your other Claude or ChatGPT account for you.

Why this happens to people with two plans

Plenty of people pay for more than one plan. One for work and one for home. Or two Max plans, because one was not enough on a heavy week. Each plan has its own 5-hour allowance and its own weekly allowance. Use up one and the other is still full, but nothing moves you across.

So you stop, log out, log in somewhere else, and try to remember where you were. That is the part worth getting rid of.

The manual way, with a folder per account

Claude Code keeps your login, and your settings, in one config folder. You can point it at a different folder with the CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR setting, and each folder holds its own sign-in. That is how you keep two accounts apart on one computer. ChatGPT's Codex tool does the same with CODEX_HOME.

It works. It is also the part that goes wrong quietly. A brand new folder starts empty, so your CLAUDE.md, settings, skills, agents and hooks are not there. You either copy them over, or link the folders to your main one, and keep them in step every time you change something. Skip that and your second account behaves like a stranger who never met your rules.

What MightyMouse does instead

MightyMouse runs Claude and ChatGPT for you from your phone or your computer, and it does the folder work above on its own. In Settings, in the Your other AI plans section, you add every Claude and ChatGPT account you pay for. That section shows without turning on Advanced. Tap Add Claude account or Add ChatGPT account, finish signing in in your browser, and the account appears in the list.

Under the hood, each account gets its own folder, and the sign-in runs the same claude auth login or codex login you would type yourself. You never touch a folder.

See how full each account is

Every account shows two bars: a 5-hour bar and a Weekly bar, with the percent used and when it resets. The bar turns amber at 80 percent and red when it is full, so you see a limit coming before you hit it.

Each account also says where it stands:

What happens when one runs out

When an account hits its limit in the middle of a task, MightyMouse notices, marks that account as used up until its reset time, and starts the task again on the next account that has room. You do not log out, and you do not pick. It also works through the list in order, so the first account with room is always the one that runs.

The same goes for ChatGPT. Add more than one and the next task moves along the same way.

Every account follows your rules

The reason a second account feels different is that it starts empty. MightyMouse links each new account to your main setup instead. Your CLAUDE.md, settings, skills, agents, commands, hooks, plugins and rules are shared across every Claude account. For ChatGPT, the shared list is the config file, AGENTS.md, instructions, hooks, skills and prompts. Change one, and every account sees it. So the account that picks up the work behaves the same as the one that stopped.

What this costs you

Which way to pick

If you have two accounts and you mostly work in one terminal, the manual folders are fine, and free. If you run a lot of tasks, or run them from your phone while away from your desk, a limit that you have to fix by hand is the one that costs you the afternoon. That is when having the next account take over earns its place.

Add every plan you pay for and let the next one pick up the work.
Free to try. Your accounts stay signed in on your own computer.

Common questions

How do I switch Claude accounts in Claude Code?

Claude Code stores your login in a config folder. Point CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR at a different folder, sign in there with claude auth login, and that folder is a separate account. MightyMouse does this for you and picks the account for each task.

Can I use two Claude Max accounts at once?

Yes, as two separate logins, each in its own config folder. In MightyMouse you add both under Your other AI plans, and each task uses the first one with room.

What do I do when I hit the Claude Code usage limit?

Wait for the 5-hour or weekly window to reset, or run the task on another account you pay for. MightyMouse shows when each account opens again and moves the next task for you.

Do my CLAUDE.md and settings carry over to a second Claude account?

Not by default. A fresh config folder is empty. You can link your files in by hand, or let MightyMouse share your CLAUDE.md, settings, skills, agents, commands, hooks, plugins and rules across every account.

Can I see how much of my Claude 5-hour and weekly limit I have used?

Yes. In MightyMouse, Settings shows a 5-hour bar and a Weekly bar for each account, with the percent used and the reset time.

Does it work for ChatGPT accounts too?

Yes. You can add more than one ChatGPT account, and it shows the same bars and moves tasks along the same way.
