Is Conductor shutting down? The dates and what to do this week
You read that Conductor is joining Meta. Here is what ends, what does not, and when.
Short answer: Partly: Conductor has said its Cloud shuts down on Nov 20, 2026, and data deletion starts that day. The Mac app is not switched off: it keeps getting new models and critical fixes until early 2027, then winds down.
Everything below comes from Conductor's own post, conductor.build/announcement, and TechCrunch's report on it, both dated Nov 4, 2026. These are their dates, not ours. If they change, theirs are the ones that count.
The timeline
- Nov 4: Conductor announces it is joining Meta. The co-founders join Meta Superintelligence Labs. No new signups and no new downloads from this day.
- Nov 13: Cloud goes read-only. Subscribers are refunded.
- Nov 20: Cloud shuts down and data deletion starts.
- Early 2027: The local Mac app stops getting new models and fixes, then winds down.
So there are really two products here. The Cloud has a hard date, about two weeks away. The Mac app has a soft landing of a few months.
What happens to your data
Cloud workspaces are the ones at risk. After Nov 13 you can look but not change, and after Nov 20 deletion begins. Anything you want from them has to leave before then.
Workspaces that live on your own Mac are a different story. They are folders and branches on your disk. Conductor has also said its iOS app only worked with Cloud workspaces, so it stops being useful on Nov 20.
Three things to do this week
- Export what lives in the Cloud. Check Conductor's settings for the export option, and do it before Nov 13 while you can still change things. Push any branches you care about to your own Git host too. Code on GitHub does not depend on anyone's shutdown.
- Keep your local workspaces as they are. Do not delete the Conductor app or its folders yet. They still work, and some tools can read them (more on that below).
- Pick where you will keep working. You have until early 2027 for the Mac app, which is plenty of time to choose without panic. Our list of Conductor alternatives and the step-by-step guide to moving off Conductor cover the options.
One option: keep working on your own Mac, from your phone
If part of what you liked was checking on your agents away from the desk, MightyMouse runs your coding agents on your own Mac and puts them on your phone. The agents stay on your computer. Your phone is how you reach them.
It can also pick up your old work. MightyMouse reads the Conductor data already on your Mac, read-only, and shows a From Conductor list in the Code sidebar. Press Continue here on a workspace and it starts a new Claude chat in that workspace's folder. The chat is told the branch name and gets the last few messages of the old conversation, so it can pick up where you stopped.
- It only sees workspaces stored on your Mac. It does not reach into the Cloud, so export those first.
- It does not move or copy your files. Your code stays where it is.
- You get a new chat with a short recap, not the full old history.
Two things are worth knowing for the phone side. Turn on Works with the lid closed in Settings and your agents keep working after you shut the laptop. It asks for your password, and we suggest keeping the Mac plugged in because a closed Mac gets warm. And when an agent has opened a pull request on GitHub, you can merge it from your phone, with a confirm step before anything happens.
What this costs you
Switching is work. A new chat with a recap is not the same as your old session, so expect to re-explain a few things on your first day. The import only helps with local workspaces, and Cloud ones need exporting first. The lid-closed setting changes a system power setting and needs your password, and your Mac has to stay on and reachable for your phone to talk to it.
One more honest note: MightyMouse's Code area is not on for new installs. It lives behind Advanced in Settings, which you switch on yourself. Out of the box you get the phone trackpad and voice typing, and the agent tools appear once Advanced is on.
And if the Mac app is working for you, there is no rush. Early 2027 is a real runway. Use it to choose, not to scramble.
Keep your agents on your Mac and reach them from your phone.
Free to try. Your code stays on your computer.
Common questions
Is Conductor shutting down?
Partly. Conductor says its Cloud shuts down Nov 20, 2026. The Mac app keeps getting new models and critical fixes until early 2027, then winds down.
Did Meta buy Conductor?
Conductor says it is joining Meta and its co-founders are joining Meta Superintelligence Labs. The terms were not part of what they published.
When does Conductor Cloud go away?
Cloud goes read-only on Nov 13, with subscribers refunded. It shuts down on Nov 20 and data deletion starts that day.
Will the Conductor Mac app still work after Nov 20?
Conductor says yes. The local Mac app is meant to keep working with new models and critical fixes until early 2027, then wind down.
What happens to the Conductor iOS app?
Conductor has said the iOS app only worked with Cloud workspaces, so it stops being useful on Nov 20.
How do I export my Conductor data before the shutdown?
Check Conductor's settings for the export option, and do it before Nov 13 while Cloud is still editable. Also push your branches to your own Git host. See the step-by-step guide to moving off Conductor.
Can I keep using my local Conductor workspaces somewhere else?
Yes, the folders are on your Mac. MightyMouse lists them under From Conductor in its Code sidebar and starts a new chat in each one. See how it compares on the MightyMouse vs Conductor page.
If you want to keep your agents on your own Mac and still reach them from the couch: MightyMouse puts your Mac and your coding agents on your phone, and can pick up your local Conductor workspaces.
